East Anglia has numerous historical locations to visit. In particular, it is where the Sutton Hoo treasure was discovered and you can visit the new exhibition centre there although you have to visit the British Museum in London to see the actual treasure. A “jewel” from this area is the wonderful medieval village of Lavenham. Unlike many other medieval villages, it was preserved through not prospering in the Tudor period and so not being regularly “modernised” or “improved”. One of our favourite museums is Colchester Castle Museum which has some brilliant displays especially from the Roman period when Boudicca destroyed the town.
