The ancient Kingdom of Wessex boasts a big range of awesome historical buildings and museums. These include the stunning medieval doom painting in Salisbury and the exciting Portsmouth D Day museum where you can stand on a landing craft that participated on the actual day. Corinium museum in Cirencester has one of the best collections of historical artefacts in the country, whereas the Weald and Downland Museum allows visitors to step back in time as they enter each building.
